Faith for the Task
INTRODUCTION: Last week we discussed how that Nehemiah was a man of great care. He cared about the city of God, the people of God and the work of God so much that he asked, he prayed, and he volunteered to do something about the city of Jerusalem. Today that plan is going to go into action but it required great faith for Nehemiah to do this job. He wanted to go and rebuild the city and secure it for the future. In this passage he shows us a great example of faith. There are four areas in which he exercised faith. As you prepare to do what God has for you to do in your life, you must have faith in these same four areas.
- HAVE THE FAITH TO WAIT (V. 1)
- HAVE THE FAITH TO BRAVE THE DANGERS (VS. 2-8)
- HAVE THE FAITH TO INSPIRE OTHERS (VS. 9-18)
- HAVE THE FAITH TO STAND UP AGAINST OPPOSITION (VS. 19-20)
CONCLUSION: Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” If you are here and you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, you must have faith. You must believe with all your heart that Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins and trust Him to give you eternal life as you confess Him as your Lord. Christian, you have to have faith that God will reward you as you diligently seek Him. He will help you to do what He has called you to do. Have the faith to wait on His timing. Have the faith to brave the dangers. Have the faith to inspire others. Have the faith to stand up against opposition.
