Ezra 5:1-17

(Read vs. 1-5 for context)

Spurred on to God’s Work

INTRODUCTION:  Last week we talked about how that Satan through the people of the area stopped the work on the house of God in Jerusalem.  Most experts agree that it stayed that way for about fifteen years.  It is high time that the people were spurred on to finish this work that God had given them.  Sometimes Satan wins in our life as well.  Sometimes he is successful in causing us to stop the work that we are doing for God.  When that happens God would have us to get busy again.  In fact, God has provided us some tools to spur us on in His work.

  1. BY THE WORD OF GOD (V. 1)
  2. BY THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF GOD’S MEN (V. 2)
  3. BY THE EYE OF GOD ON YOU (VS. 3-5)
  4. BY THE HISTORY OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE (VS. 6-17)

CONCLUSION:  Maybe you have stopped working for the Lord in a particular area or maybe your considering stopping a particular work for God.  There is no reason to let your work for God sit around for years like the Israelites did.  Read God’s word and be encouraged.  Allow God’s men to encourage you.  Know that God is watching over you and be spurred on by His protection.  Look back at what God has done in your life to bring you to that place of work and be encouraged by what He has done so far.
