II Kings 24:8-16
Consequences of Doing Evil
INTRODUCTION: The end of the book of 2 Kings is all about the consequences that have to be paid for doing those things that don’t please God. The Bible often calls those things that don’t please God EVIL. In this case we are talking about a king whose name was Jahoachin. He was the son of Jahoakim and he did evil in the sight of the Lord. When people or nations choose to do those things that do not please God, when they choose to do EVIL things it brings some serious consequences. God points out these consequences here in the scripture so that you will understand that it is no joke to displease God. It is EVIL when you displease God and there are four consequences that we are going to discuss tonight that will surely come if you do EVIL.
- EVIL PASSES ON TO YOUR CHILDREN (VS. 8-9)
- EVIL BRINGS THE WRATH OF GOD (VS. 10-12)
- EVIL BRINGS SHAME TO GOD’S NAME (V. 13)
- EVIL BRINGS BAD TO ALL THOSE AROUND YOU (VS. 14-16)
CONCLUSION: God’s will is the only place for God’s people. To go against the will of the God that created and saved you is to do EVIL. And doing this EVIL will cause your children after to you do EVIL. It will bring the wrath of God. It will bring shame to the name of God that you are supposed to be lifting up. It will hurt the people around you. Make every effort to walk in the will of God and to rid your life of the sin that displeases Him.
