Hope for Change
INTRODUCTION: A few chapters ago things were looking pretty bleak for the Jews. Haman had been given authority by the king to decree that all the Jews would be killed on one day. Esther thought she might die as she entered the presence of the king. Mordecai was in sackcloth and ashes at the gate of the king. The Jews were fasting and praying for their lives. But God changed all of that. God can change things. There is always hope. Things are becoming very bleak in our society. The shootings and violence is out of control. People seem to hate God and everything about Him. People are living in sin and believing they are doing what is right. How can that change? Isn’t the world too far gone? God used His people in the book of Esther to change the entire climate of Persia. Can we see that kind of change, where whole governments are doing differently in favor of God? It can happen here like it did in the book of Esther.
- WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE TAKE COURAGE AND FIGHT (VS. 1-2, 5-11)
- WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE TRUST THE POWER OF GOD (VS. 2, 4, 6, 11-16)
- WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE STAND UP AND LEAD (VS. 3-4, 11-13)
- WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE CELEBRATE GOD’S VICTORIES (VS. 17-19)
CONCLUSION: Here in Esther God used His people to bring about great change. It is through God that change will come in our nation as well. But you, God’s people must be willing to take courage and fight for what is right. You have to place your trust in the power and might of God as you fight. You may be called upon by God to lead in the bringing about of change. You certainly have a job to do. When you see God do some great act of change, show the world with celebration of God’s victories.
