Take a Stand
INTRODUCTION: We don’t know exactly the circumstances that brought Haman to this great place in the kingdom, but here he is. He clashes with Mordecai, Esther’s uncle immediately. This was a wicked man. In Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the Lord hate: Yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, Feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.-Haman lived his life doing all of those things on God’s list. He was a wicked and terrible man who stood against everything for which God stands. Mordecai on the other hand stands for God here in this passage. You should stand for God like Mordecai did.
- STAND FOR THE PRINCIPLES OF GOD (VS. 1-2)
-Agagite, descendent of Agag, Amalekite king who had attacked Israel
-Deuteronomy 25:17-19 Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt; 18 How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God. 19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.
-This was the enemy of God-and therefore the enemy of all the Jews-That is why Mordecai told the others that he was a Jew in v. 4
-Mordecai was standing for God in standing against the enemy of God in Haman
- DON’T BOW TO THE PRESSURE OF PEOPLE (VS. 3-4)
- TRUST GOD WITH THE OUTCOME (VS. 5-6)
CONCLUSION:Â There are times in life when you will have to stand for God and His principles. You may have to do that alone, or you may have a crowd to help. Whatever the case, you must take that stand to honor God. Make sure they are the principles of God and not your own mind, and then stand never bowing to the pressure of people and trusting God with the outcome.
