Worship God for His Mercy and Grace
INTRODUCTION: The Israelites here have worshiped God for His greatness. Then they worshiped him for His goodness. All through both of the greatness and the goodness of God has run this theme of the grace and mercy that God has shown to the nation. They were spared the punishment they deserved. They were given good things that they did not deserve. Israel continued to sin and God continued to restore them as they repented. We are really hard on the Israelites but we do the same things. God continues to forgive and restore fellowship with you even though you continue to sin every day. Even though you sin, God gives you great things including eternal life. Even though you sin, God spares you what you deserve, including hell. So how do we go about worshiping God for this mercy and grace?
- RECOGNIZE THE CONTINUED PRESENCE OF GOD (V. 31)
- RECOGNIZE THAT YOU DESERVE WHATEVER CHASTISMENT GOD GIVES (VS. 32-33)
- RECOGNIZE THAT YOU ARE THE ONE WHO HAS DONE WRONG (VS. 34-35)
- CONTINUE IN YOUR COMMITTED SERVICE TO HIM DURING CHASTISMENT (VS. 36-38)
CONCLUSION:Â God is so gracious to us. God shows us such mercy. People spend time blaming God for the troubles. The truth is that you and I deserve every bad thing that can happen to us. The truth is that God never leaves you. You deserve what you receive and more. You are the one that has done wrong, not God. Serve God in with great commitment no matter what you are going through. By doing those things you worship God for his grace and mercy.
