The Enemy Attacks Again
INTRODUCTION: The enemies that Nehemiah had to face while he was trying to build the wall do not change as this book goes along. It is always these same guys. They were ministers of Satan, trying to stop God’s work and Nehemiah had to fight off these attacks of Satan, not just once, but again and again. Here they are again, and again Nehemiah shows you through this passage how to fight the attacks of the enemies against God’s work. As you work for God you will face all of these things. Will you respond like Nehemiah did?
- DON’T GIVE IN TO COMPROMISE (VS. 1-4)
- DON’T BUCKLE UNDER SLANDER (VS. 5-9)
- DON’T RUN FROM THREATS (VS. 10-14)
- DON’T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN AFTER VICTORY (VS. 15-19)
CONCLUSION: These are common things that Satan does to try to derail the work of God. Did you notice how discerning Nehemiah was throughout this passage? He knew what was coming at him every step of the way. God can help you to be just as discerning. When you see these attacks of Satan stand up like Nehemiah did. Don’t give in to compromise ever. Don’t buck under slander and gossip. Don’t run from threats that God will handle. And don’t let your guard down even after you have won.
